Saturday, February 13
• Forest Service Bald Eagle Count; 8am -10am.
Volunteer to help Forest Service Biologists count the eagles hanging around the Big Bear Valley. No experience necessary. Dress warm and bring your own binoculars. Meet at the Discovery Center at 8am.
• Snowshoe Tour; 9am-12pm. Reservations suggested, for more information visit our tour page. Fee: $35 adults, $25 children (8-12).
• Animal Tracking; 11am-1pm. Come learn how to track animals found in the forest.
Learn how tracks are cast and make your very own. After creating your animal track, a naturalist will guide you on a 20 minute walk around the grounds searching for signs of animals. Fee: $3
• Eagle Celebration! 1:00pm-2:30pm. Join the Discovery Center for a tribute to Big Bear's most famous residents! Eagle Celebration will be complete with handouts for kids and adults, an educational slide show from a Forest Service Biologist on the Bald Eagles of Big Bear and to top it off, a visit from Aries, a LIVE Golden Eagle, from Moonridge Animal Park! Fee: $5 Adults, $3 kids up to 12.
• Nature Walks; 1pm & 2pm. Join us for a 30-minute nature walk to learn about the local plant life, wildlife and some very interesting historical facts. Great activity for families and individuals who want to gain a greater appreciation for our National Forest. Nature walks are not strenuous and designed for all levels of physical conditioning. FREE!

Interested in giving back to the community? Volunteering at the Discovery Center is a great way to give back to the community, learn about the San Bernardino National Forest and become part of an enthusiastic and fun team! To learn more about becoming a volunteer, please attend this orientation session. RSVP to Yomar Cleary, Volunteer Coordinator, at (909) 382-2842.
• Story Time @ 11am: Stellaluna by Janell Cannon. Bring your youngsters to enjoy stories and snacks. Great for ages 6 and under. Stellaluna is a classic children's book about a young bat that learns about survival and friendship in humorous and touching ways. Families participating in story time will receive 10% off of the children's book of the day and select merchandise in the Adventure Outpost. FREE!

• Greenthumbs Community Planting Day; 9am-3pm. Volunteer to assist the Big Bear Ranger Station's Native Plant Nursery and Restoration Program. No experience necessary. Bring hat, sunscreen, your favorite pair of gloves and a sack lunch. Meet at the Big Bear Ranger Station flagpole @ 9am. The Big Bear Ranger Station is located ¼ mile east of the Big Bear Discovery Center. Please call ahead to verify your participation. (909) 382-2824. Free!
• Story Time @ 11 am: The Three Bears illustrated by Frances Brundage. Bring your youngsters to enjoy this classic story and snacks. Great for ages 6 and under.
