The Discovery Center is an innovative, non-profit visitor center that serves over 200,000 people every year in building personal, life-long connections to their National Forest. As “Your Gateway to Adventure”, the Discovery Center introduces visitors to the wonders of the forest and teaches them to enjoy this natural resource responsibly. Your support is critical to growing the services and educational programs available at the Discovery Center, located in the heart of Southern California’s most recreated and populated forest, the San Bernardino National Forest. Without the Discovery Center, visitors would not have the opportunity to learn, better appreciate and respect the natural beauty that surrounds them. Nor would they learn how precious and fragile the forest and its wildlife actually remain. Education is critical to preservation!

As a California non-profit organization, the Big Bear Discovery Center is dependent upon donations, grants, and fund raising efforts in order to maintain a constant level of educational programs and public services that are targeted to benefit the growing interests of families and seniors.

• Provide vital support for education and services to help visitors enjoy and preserve the forest.
• Build a direct, personal connection to the forest through programs, classes and events, e.g. Native Peoples Fall Festival, eagle tours, wildflower tours, etc.

• Offering free educational programs to over 2,700 school children, scouts troops, senior citizens, and youth groups every year
• Supporting programs to help visitors better appreciate our forest's natural beauty and understand its vulnerabilities
• Funding free admission to Discovery Center festivals
• Ensuring that the San Bernardino National Forest remains a recreation resource for generations to come
